Watercare provides critical water supply and wastewater services to Tāmaki Makaurau. Currently, in extreme weather conditions, sewerage overflows spill into waterways. The Central Interceptor wastewater tunnel will reduce overflows significantly and increase capacity to meet future needs. The tunnel has a life of 100 years which makes it a significant legacy project.
Watercare also wishes to create a legacy through social outcome activities.These activities aim to develop capability in individuals, groups and communities based on a foundation of tikanga Māori. A review is published each year to cover activities and highlight outcomes.
